Rescued Cheetah Cub: Light-as-a-Feather’s story

Light as a Feather

My name is Light-as-a-Feather. I was rescued with my sister. WE were only 3 weeks old. I was confiscated by Somaliland authorities. I was poached for the illegal pet trade destined for the Arabian Peninsula.

CCF rescued me. The CCF team helped me regain strength from being extremely malnourished and dehydrated.

BUT my sister did not make it. I made a new friend – Kidi. She had also been confiscated. And now we play together.

Cheetahs are not pets!

CCF estimates that 300 cheetah cubs are being smuggled every year from the Horn of Africa to the Middle East.

CCF has been working to prevent poaching and trafficking since 2005.

Over the past 7 years, CCF has rescued or confiscated 52 cheetahs in Somaliland. Twelve remain in their care.
