Alison’s time volunteering at CCF Namibia, part two

Alison is currently volunteering at CCF Namibia from the United Kingdom as a working guest. While there, she will be sharing her daily experiences with us so that we can have a first-hand look at what life is like as a CCF volunteer!

“Last night we had an amazing storm – it was a hot dry day then around 5 o’clock thunder and lightning lit up the sky, before a  beautiful rainbow appeared.”

“Shortly afterwards the rain started – in Namibia when it rains, it REALLY rains! After about 20 minutes of rain, the area in front of the rondavels became a lake. Half an hour later it was all over and a weak sun appeared for half an hour before dark. It was beautiful.”

“After the amazing storm last night today was bright and sunny, so I went out on the reserve with the ecology team. We were checking all the cameras traps and replacing the Sim cards and batteries when needed.”

“All was going well until we drove through a very big deep puddle and the Land Rover got stuck. We all jumped out and tried to put branches under the tyres to give traction. After several attempts and pushes we finally got got free – well driven Carolina ! It was just as well really as we were out of signal range and it was a long walk back!”

Tune in tomorrow for Alison’s third day!
